FAA Presentation: Mr. Alex Rodriguez of the FAA’s Avionics Certification and Maintenance Branch will discuss ADS-B equipment installation issues and offer insight on testing and system compliance. This session includes ADS-B compliance monitoring, post-installation performance statistics, and common installation mistakes. This session will be presented in Spanish.

Regulatory session with member roundtable: Following the July 3, 2016, revisions to Reglamentos Aeronáuticos de Colombia (RAC) 4, this year’s regulatory briefing will be a thorough update on all the March 2016 changes with special emphasis on the Jan. 1, 2020, mandate for ADS-B in all Colombia airspace, which currently requires a transponder. This ADS-B mandate will affect all aircraft flying in Colombian airspace, not just Colombian-registered aircraft.

The meeting also will review the Dec. 14, 2015, revision to RAC 21 addressing the certification of aircraft and parts, as well as other relevant changes to the RAC in the past year. And finally, the regulatory session will update the membership on the status of the Regional Safety Oversight Cooperation System (SRVSOP) and the Latin American Aviation Regulations, as well as the implementation of Safety Management Systems.

Invited guests include representatives of the Aeronáutica Civil as well as the Federal Aviation Administration.
