Regulatory and legislative news from FAA headquarters including discussion of the key issues impacting repair stations, equipment manufacturers, and distributors.  This session will provide an update on regulatory changes including avionics updates, SMS and repair station rating and quality systems as well as TSA’s security program.

After thorough analysis, the gap between a solid Quality Management System and the technical elements of the future Safety Management Systems for a maintenance organization is reasonably narrow.  This session is the first in a series to begin the transition for AEA members from a minimal quality control system as mandated by Part 145 to a modern Quality Management System.  This transition will reduce the cost and complexity of SMS compliance when the FAA moves forward with their long-anticipated rulemaking.

There has been countless articles written about the products of ADS-B and the global benefit to the air transportation industry.  This session is a presentation on the technology of ADS-B rather than the products, how the system works and most importantly, how to prepare your customers for meeting the ADS-B mandate.
