Avionics Systems Architect

Cobham is seeking an Avionics Systems Architect. The Avionics Systems Architect is a subject matter expert that drives changes and implements solutions as a participant on a multi-disciplined team. The Avionics Systems Architect utilizes model-based system engineering in defining, documenting, and reviewing the technical implementation of Tactical Radio, Audio Control and Management Systems and Connected Aircraft system capabilities. This position drives consistently innovative solutions in project and product capacities. The ideal candidate has an extensive working knowledge of Tactical Mission Radio systems, Audio Control and Management Systems, Connected Aircraft systems, and services. Strong architecture and systems engineering knowledge throughout the complete system life cycle is a prerequisite. The Systems Architect must be able to influence team members from multiple disciplines; especially Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Integrated Verification, Validation and Qualification (IVVQ), Product Management and Program Management. The Systems Architect employs the use of modelling of system level requirements. This position is located in Prescott, AZ. Key Responsibilities: Provides technical expertise/guidance at the aircraft avionics systems and avionics LRU systems level to the Bid/Proposal team by identifying the initial architectural direction Develops technical documentation for Bid/Proposal and provide technical leadership to bid teams as needed Defines the technical approach and guidance for all engineering groups to estimate Identify areas of opportunity and risks/mitigation Drives processes for defining and documenting system and subsystem architectures including new features and expanded technical capabilities on the technical roadmap Implements state of the art systems engineering approach to existing and new architectures Identifies and leads improvements and optimizations, and sets the standard for architecture maintenance activities Establishes and defines standard technologies throughout the end to end system/product Supports New Product Development (NPD) to establish and define proofs of concepts as needed Lead/support research projects Provide technical oversight to the implementation team based on defined architecture Develops technical documentation for and providing technical leadership to systems engineering and development teams as needed Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree from a four-year college or university 8+ years' industry work experience Experience in complete System & Software life cycles and capable of influencing team members from multiple disciplines, especially Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Product Management and Program Management Familiarity with system, hardware & software avionics development processes (e.g. ARP4754 Rev A, DO- 178C, DO-254, DO-160G etc.) Requirements Analysis and Documentation tools (e.g. DOORs, Jama, etc.) This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US. In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident Preferred Qualifications: Familiar with ARINC standards applicable to Airborne communication and audio systems Experience working with network systems and networking principles, data, voice, or video Experience working with network software and hardware, data, voice, or video Architectural & Design Patterns & Frameworks Familiar with industry requirements for airborne avionic systems, such as ARINC, RTCA Architecture Tools and Concepts (e.g. Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, etc.)
