LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — Even as many businesses in the aviation/avionics industry face their own struggles in difficult times, it has not stopped the thousands of Aircraft Electronics Association members from expressing a desire to help their devastated neighbors in Haiti. The images of relief aircraft waiting on tarmacs while trucks try to find a way through the fallen infrastructure to reach those in desperate need of supplies are heartbreaking, and AEA members want to help. To help facilitate its members and those in the industry who are wanting to provide aid to Haiti, the AEA is participating in a community effort called “Hearts for Haiti.” All donations collected through this local effort will go directly to the international relief agency CARE. The best way to help right now is with a cash donation — no amount is too small. “Hearts for Haiti” donations are ranging from student penny drives to corporate cash donations. The AEA is an official “Hearts for Haiti” donation drop-off site. If you are near the AEA headquarters in Lee’s Summit, Mo., stop by with your donation. Checks, made payable to “Hearts of Haiti,” can be mailed to: AEA, 3570 NE Ralph Powell Road, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064. All donations are welcome. The AEA will collect through Feb. 26; however, relief is needed now, so if you are able to send a donation immediately, it is much appreciated.
