LEE'S SUMMIT, MO, Jan. 2, 2013 -- On Tuesday, Jan. 1, the U.S. Senate confirmed Michael Huerta as the next administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration. Huerta had been serving as acting administrator since former administrator Randy Babbitt resigned more than a year ago. Today, the Aircraft Electronics Association applauded Huerta's Senate confirmation. "We look forward to working with Administrator Huerta as the general aviation industry tackles the many complex challenges headed our way in 2013 and beyond, including ADS-B mandates, streamlined certification of new avionics products, regulations affecting the avionics retrofit markets and NextGen transformation," stated Paula Derks, AEA president. Prior to Huerta's stint as FAA acting administrator, he served as chief of staff in the Department of Transportation during the administration of President Bill Clinton. – 30 – |
