Delegates Conference Information

Over the last several years, the AEA has engaged in discussions with members and nonmembers on the need for advocacy in the delegate/aircraft certification areas. The AEA’s goal is to provide a voice for delegates and those who want to be delegates with the added focus on engineering and aircraft certification. Regardless of your background or specialty, the AEA is setting up to be an advocate to all individuals and companies engaged in this area.

Register now and join us for the third annual Delegates Conference, which takes place at the AEA International Convention and Trade Show. This year’s Delegates Conference features an expanded schedule, including new technical content, a networking event, collaboration with the FAA and Transport Canada, and access to the exhibit hall.

Schedule

Thursday, March 20

8 a.m. - 12 p.m. FAA/TCCA Roundtable

Officials from the FAA and TCCA will be in attendance for this year's Delegates Conference. They will provide an update on the work being accomplished with regulations, policy and guidance along with an overview of developments in the delegate system. Regulatory officials will discuss issues they have with the delegate community and seek to find resolutions with industry. Bring your questions for a lively session.

12 p.m. - 5 p.m. Exhibit Hall

Join us in the exhibit hall to explore the products and services being offered to the aviation community. This is a time to see what is new, network with others and find a new idea. There is also a silent auction and 50/50 raffle to support the AEA Educational Foundation.

5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Networking Event

After perusing the exhibit hall, join the FAA and TCCA for an evening social and cocktail reception to have time to network in a less formal atmosphere.

Friday, March 21

8 a.m. - 9 a.m. Committee Update

An overview of the delegate subcommittee activities and what the AEA is doing in the aircraft certification and delegation arena.

9 a.m. - 11 a.m. HIRF and Lightning

HIRF and lightning are specialized areas that typically need to be addressed in many modifications. You have direct effects and indirect effects to consider with many different types of modifications and potentially not just when installing avionics equipment. This session will take you through the basic considerations for HIRF and lightning and how to address compliance.

11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Antenna Installation and Considerations Beyond Avionics

When conducting avionics installations, other areas of the aircraft are often overlooked or missed. There are many factors to consider, including structures, flight test and other systems. This session will take you through the review and planning of a typical installation and how to address these other specialties.

2 p.m. - 3 p.m. Q&A Session

This is a time to share ideas, dive into an issue, or provide suggestions for the AEA to tackle. Whether you have training ideas, advocacy work or other ideas for programs, bring them for a lively discussion.
