Mike Goulian has been involved in aviation since the mid-1980s, as his parents founded and operated Executive Flyers Aviation, a flight school located outside of Boston, Massachusetts. His dad, Myron, started the company in 1964.
He is a CFII and ATP with more than 11,000 hours of flight time. Goulian is type rated in the Lear Jet, Citation, and most recently, the Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet. Rounding out his flying resume is his 4,000 hours at the controls of different tailwheel aircraft and more than 1,000 hours flying and teaching in Cirrus Aircraft.
Sport aviation and aerobatics has been a passion of Goulian’s from the beginning of his career. He is a three-time member of the U.S. Unlimited Aerobatic Team and the 1990 U.S. Advanced National Champion. In 1995, he became one of the youngest ever National Unlimited Aerobatic Champions.
Goulian has authored two books on aerobatics, given numerous FAA, EAA, and industry safety seminars, filmed numerous safety videos, and received all three air show industry awards for his achievements.
In 2014, he was awarded the Aero Club of New England’s Presidential Award. This award honors those who have made significant contributions to aviation, whose impact may have been regional, national or global. In that same year, Goulian was incredibly humbled as he was made an Honorary U.S. Navy Blue Angel.
He has spent the last 30 years flying aerobatics as a professional performer at air shows across North America and competed in the Red Bull Air Race World Championships from 2006 to 2019.
In 2017, he and his wife, Karin, founded Mike Goulian Aviation, an aviation business focused on flight training and management of Cirrus Aircraft. Mike Goulian Aviation is an authorized Platinum Cirrus Training Center with locations in Plymouth and Bedford, Massachusetts.
Goulian is also a designated pilot examiner for the FAA. He enjoys this role as it gives him further opportunity to give back to the general aviation community.
Presently outside of flying, he spends much of his free time advocating general aviation with leaders in our industry to improve safety and to promote aviation to all ages.
