Avidyne's Electronics Technicians play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and reliability of Avidyne’s sophisticated avionics equipment used in various Part 23, 25, and 27 aircraft. Primary duties involve meticulous inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced avionics, including navigation, communication, and flight control systems. In addition to the technical responsibilities, the Electronics Technician also engages in a range of secondary duties that support the broader objectives of Avidyne’s manufacturing department. This includes diligent completion of detailed repair and maintenance records, which are essential for compliance with FAA documentation requirements. Lastly, the Electronics Technician role extends beyond individual tasks to include mentoring junior technicians, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the team.

Our Electronics Technician's responsibilities include:

  • Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing avionics systems and components in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures.
  • Performing functions associated with all electronic manufacturing operations including set-up calibration tasks, performing rework, and quality testing for components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Interpreting and complying with repair station manuals, technical specifications, and other regulatory documents.
  • Performing product calibration, in-process testing, and final acceptance testing in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures.
  • Assisting with training of other technicians and new hires.
  • Recording observed defects and returning units to assembly.
  • Completing detailed test and repair records and returning units to production assembly as required.
  • Collaborating with Engineering and other technical teams to implement modifications and improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Applied ability to tune, test, troubleshoot, and repair analog and digital circuit boards to component level.
  • Applied ability using standard electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, pulse generators, and logic analyzers, as well as solder. 
  • General ability to diagnose trends and reliability issues, as well as provide detailed analyses.
  • Applied ability reading and interpreting technical documents, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Physical dexterity and ability to work in various environmental conditions.
  • Applied ability and willingness to mentor others and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to successfully identify and resolve complex problems.
  • Ability to maintain a positive outlook with effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime, as needed.
  • Ability to pass a written technician test.

Education & Experience:

  • Technical certification in electronics or at least three years’ relevant experience.

As an Avionics Technician II, you’ll be responsible for Installs, tests, troubleshoots, and/or repairs electrical/avionics equipment and systems, including Flight Management Systems (FMS,) Satcom and Airborne Radio Telephone Systems, EGPWS/TAWS, communications, navigation, radar, TCAS/XPDR, DME, autopilot/flight director, audio, ADF, Cabin Management/In-flight Entertainment (IFE), and other sophisticated avionics/electronics systems. You’ll route wire throughout aircraft tying into both new and factory installed wire bundles, and may assist in functional checkout and troubleshooting of all wiring systems. You’ll also perform less difficult assignments without assistance or supervision. Care and precision must be exercised in order to ensure quality installations, on-time deliveries, and customer satisfaction. Directly and openly communicates with customers regarding the status and time frame of repair while a professional appearance and communication skills are required in order to create a positive and lasting professional relationship.

What you’ll do:

  • Fabricates wiring harnesses; solders connector plugs; strips and hand lugs wiring; identifies wiring and fabricates and installs surface control indicating systems; performs terminal splicing; wires junction boxes; routes wiring and conduit; and performs any other electrical bench or installation work as necessary to complete the electrical repair or modification of the aircraft.
  • Uses electrical hand tools, testing equipment, and soldering equipment.
  • Documents all work accomplished (a.k.a. sign-off) in a clear, concise and accurate manner. 
  • Adheres to shop standards, various manufacturers’ standards and practices and has knowledge of various federal and military standards including FAA Advisory Circulars.
  • Works fair share of overtime and travels to customer locations or other Standard Aero facilities as required.
  • Responsible for knowing, understanding, following, promoting and continuously improving company policies and procedures.
  • Observes all safety, environmental and general housekeeping rules and policies.
  • May perform other duties as required by the department.  

What skills you will use:     

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal avionics systems and/or electronics education/training.
  • Minimum 2-year’s experiences in electronics and/or avionics in the aviation industry or military equivalent.

  •  Must have the ability to think clearly, speak intelligibly on the telephone and in person.
  •  Must have the ability to manipulate equipment of all sizes, tools, computer keyboards, and telephones.

Position Summary 
Perform repairs on composite helicopter blades, including resin application and sanding to achieve a seamless finish.

Principal Responsibilities 

  • Finish Removal: Remove paint and primer from composite surfaces using pneumatic sanders
  • Resin/Bondo Application: Mix and apply resin/body filler (Bondo) to composite materials
  • Fabricate materials: Fabricate composite patches to repair surface defects
  • Sanding and smoothing: Carefully sand the body filler to achieve a smooth, even surface
  • Update Traveler: Record completed work including material used, lot numbers, expiration dates, and any defects found during the process.
  • Use PPE: Properly use all safety equipment, such as respirator, dust mask, and all other PPE

Job Description

Jet Air Group is an avionics and maintenance facility on the field at the Austin Straubel Airport in Green Bay, WI. We are expanding quickly and need an Experienced Avionics Technician. We are a DOT service center so you must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening along with random screening throughout your employment. You must also be able to pass a background check as we are located on International Airport property. TSA badging is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repair, testing, installation and inspection of aircraft electronic equipment and systems, removal and assembly of aircraft interior and instrument panels, fabrication and testing of avionics systems wiring harnesses, Pitot-Static/ systems testing and repair, and maintaining repair station records and documents required.

·          Perform avionics installations and upgrades for a variety of aircraft to OEM and aircraft manufacturer specifications\perform component levels repairs and re-certifications

·          Ensure the proper preservation and protection of all avionics articles during maintenance and storage; including incoming inspection and life limited parts as outlined in Repair Station Manual

·          Ensure that all forms initiated are completed in accordance with instructions located in Appendix A of the Repair Station Manual

·          Ensure all avionics shop equipment and tools are maintained and in good working order

·          Maintain workstation in compliance with safety, fire, regulatory, and security requirements.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Avionics Technician position must possess the following:

Education and/ or Experience

·          Must have at least 2 years of installation experience of modern avionics products OR

·          Relevant military experience OR Degree in an aviation related field OR A&P certification.

ALSO

·          High School diploma or GED equivalent

·          Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and schematics

·          Excellent oral/written communication skills and above average computer skills and proficiency.

·          Ability to wear all required safety equipment; to walk/sit/climb/crawl/twist/bend/gain entry to/work in confined areas; and to work from stands and ladders

·          Must be able to lift at least 70 lbs and be able to perform moderately strenuous physical tasks which include bending, stooping, kneeling and working overhead for long periods of time

Requirements:

  • The Ability to Read, Write, and Understand English (Requirement of the FAA for the Part 145 Repair Station).  Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.  Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and promoting safety best practices.

We are looking for an Avionics Manager in our Springfield, IL office

**This position is eligible for a $20,000 sign on bonus and relocation**

Specific Accountabilities:

• Directs the production planning and scheduling process according to sales volume, sales mix, inventory requirements and materials availability.
• Plans day-to-day operations, assigns manpower, authorizes overtime and controls costs.
• Monitors production yields on a daily basis; makes adjustments as necessary to maintain delivery schedules.
• Coordinates and liaises with production, supply, sales, engineering and customer service to ensure production standards and goals are achieved.
• Establishes and implements policies and procedures needed to achieve the business unit's strategic operating goals.

• Carries out special projects as assigned.
• May perform cell production tasks as required, depending on cell size and technical qualifications.

Technical Requirements:

• Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
• Strong project management skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• Working knowledge of production management computer systems.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow company instructions, company processes, administrative policies and procedures, and export compliance regulations.
• Experience with Rolls-Royce T56 series III, 427, 427A, AE2100, GE F110 and/or J85 series preferred.
• College diploma in engineering, business administration or related discipline.
• Several years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Must be authorized to work in the US.

Salary: $91800 – 138720.  

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, StandardAero considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Position Summary 
The Machinist is responsible for operating and maintaining various machine tools to produce 
precision parts, tooling, and molds. This role requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to read blueprints, use precision measuring instruments, and apply advanced machining techniques. The Machinist will be working with steel, aluminum, magnesium, and titanium.

Principal Responsibilities 

  • Operate and maintain manual tooling machines, CNC machines, such as lathes, milling 
    machines, grinders, and drill presses.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine the dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, to ensure parts meet exact specifications and tolerances.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of machined Tooling and Molds to identify defects and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Write and edit CNC programs to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency. 
    SolidWorks proficiency preferred.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for machining operations. Set up 
    machines and adjust controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth of cut.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure the workspace is clean and organized. 

Position Requirements 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or technical school training preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machines. Strong understanding of machining 
    principles, tooling, and materials and proficiency in the uses of SolidWorks.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks with precision.  
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with team 
    members and supervisors.
  • Must be able to pass Federal DOT drug and alcohol screen

Your new position as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Avionics) will see you working within the Avionics team, performing Aircraft Maintenance and rectification as per manufacturers’ and company specification. You will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining the avionics components of various aircraft. 

Position responsibilities:

  • Report to the Maintenance Manager
  • Ensure all maintenance & repairs are carried out to the highest standards
  • Ensure compliance in accordance with company procedures manual and CASA regulations
  • Mentor and guide company Avionics apprentices
  • Liaise with customers as required

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Completed a Certificate IV or Diploma in Aeroskills (Avionics)
  • Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience working on General Aviation aircraft (Fixed/rotor wing, piston and turbine)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Have proven problem-solving skills and the ability to handle competing demands, particularly when under pressure
  • Commitment to being customer focused with the flexibility and willingness to undertake other reasonable duties as required

Position Summary 
Apply primer, paint, or other coatings to repaired helicopter blades ensuring even coverage and proper finish.

Principal Responsibilities 

  • Surface Preparation: Thoroughly clean, mask, wet sand, and prep surfaces  
  • Operate Tools: Correctly operate spray gun and other hand/power tools as necessary
  • Paint Application: Apply paint using a spray gun, ensuring even coverage and proper finish.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain spray gun and other painting tools. 
  • Update Traveler: Record completed work including lot numbers and expiration date
  • Use PPE: Properly use all safety equipment, such as respirator, dust mask, and all other PPE 

Position Requirement 

  • 1+ years of painting/refinishing experience.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 50lbs individually.
  • Must be able to work on your feet all day performing tasks such as bending, stooping, pulling, reaching, and grabbing.
  • Must be able to pass a Federal DOT drug and alcohol screen.

The Avionics Technician will perform their duties and responsibilities as listed below in support of the company’s 14 CFR Part 145 Certified Repair Station and Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate. • 5 years field maintenance experience maintaining avionics systems in modern complex Fixed Wing and / or Rotorcraft operated under an air carrier (14 CFR Part 135) certificate.

• Documented experience performing avionics systems installations in modern complex aircraft.

• Ability to efficiently troubleshoot and repair electrical and avionics systems.

• Ability and willingness to gain a thorough knowledge of the company’s General Maintenance Manual, SOP Manual, and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations

• Ability and willingness to workdays, nights, weekends, and be on-call 24 hours a day during the scheduled duty period assigned.

• Possess sound judgment and objectivity in critical decision-making situations.

• Possess honesty, integrity, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant aircraft.

• Computer skills to include a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

 

PLEASE NOTE:

• This position is offered for an Avionics Technician who supports EMS operating / maintenance bases configured with state-of-the-art avionics and EMS medical equipment installed in Fixed Wing and Rotor aircraft. You must be able to accomplish all technical and administrative functions on your own with no direct supervision.

 

PREFERRED:

• Current FAA Airframe Mechanic certificate

• Current FAA Repairmens certificate or have held one in the past 5 years.

• 5 years Fixed Wing and / or Rotorcraft avionics field maintenance experience with an EMS operator.

• 5 years of experience maintaining aircraft avionics systems working as a repairman for a 14 CFR 145 Certified Repair Station

• 5 years of experience maintaining aircraft systems and / or avionics systems on Beechcraft, Cessna, Pilatus, and Airbus Helicopters
