Regulatory Update: The Latest in Aviation Regulations
This comprehensive annual review highlights key regulatory issues impacting the avionics industry. It covers updates on repair station regulations, aircraft certification, and important rulemaking activities that directly influence your business.

9 a.m. - 10 a.m. Fabrication of Parts for Maintenance and Alterations
This session explores the FAA regulations and guidance governing the fabrication of parts consumed during aircraft maintenance and alterations. It highlights key compliance requirements from 14 CFR parts 1, 3, 21, and 43, and Advisory Circular 43-18, focusing on the quality system expectations for certificated repair stations. Topics include fabrication authorization, part classification (CAT 1–3), required documentation, subcontractor controls, part marking, and recordkeeping. Emphasis is placed on the development and implementation of Fabrication Quality Control Systems (FQCS) to ensure traceability, conformity, and airworthiness of fabricated parts.

Emphasis will be placed on documentation practices, return-to-service requirements, and maintaining compliance with FAA regulations and OEM procedures. This session equips participants with the skills to efficiently diagnose and resolve avionics issues while upholding the highest standards of safety and airworthiness.

1:15 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. uAvionix - AV-30-C and Accessory Integration: A Technical Approach for Installers
This session provides a comprehensive overview of the AV-30 system and its key accessories, including the AV-30-C, AV-30-E, AV-Mag, AV-Link, AV-HSI, AV-APA, tailBeaconX, and skySensor. We’ll explore practical use cases such as replacing legacy attitude indicators and directional gyros, enabling both VFR and IFR navigation with NAV and GPS inputs, and integrating with autopilots using GPSS and heading modes. Attendees will gain troubleshooting insights into AV-Mag installation, calibration and configuration errors, and other common setup issues. The presentation will also cover performance optimization tips—such as proper magnetometer placement, firmware updates, gyro and pitot calibration, and unlocking GPSS functionality. We'll address frequent support topics like AV-Mag interference, firmware update errors, autopilot configuration mismatches, and even hardware installation tips like avoiding incorrect screw lengths. The session concludes with open user questions.

The objective for Garmin’s training is to provide participants with in-depth knowledge and skills related to installation, troubleshooting and configuration of Garmin products. The training will be tailored to current topics that may include:

  • New product training
  • Discussion of the latest retrofit and integrated flight deck installation, troubleshooting, configuration, and administrative topics from training classes and FSE calls
  • Garmin autopilot installation trends and troubleshooting tips, and
  • GDL 60 installation and registration topics.
