-noun
an authorized messenger or representative.
The AEA Ambassador Program was created to encourage stronger professional relationships between AEA Repair Station Members and FAA Flight Standards District Offices. As an ambassador, AEA Member representatives agree to keep local FSDOs informed about AEA events, meetings and news.
Since its inception, the Ambassador Program has helped to increase FAA personnel attendance at the AEA regional meetings and annual convention, plus enhance ASIs’ awareness of the mission of the AEA.
What are the responsibilities of an AEA Ambassador?
Your responsibilities are relatively light, but extremely important. You are the communication conduit between the FAA’s field offices and the AEA’s government affairs office. You are the eyes and ears of the AEA in the field, and the face the local office associates with the AEA — you are our Ambassador.
As such, a couple of times each year, you will be asked to make an appointment with your host FAA District Office manager and hand-deliver AEA information to the manager with an explanation of what the information is and how FAA participation in the particular event will help the FAA and, particularly, the local office. The goal is to ensure the office managers know about the AEA and what resources and training the association provides so the office managers can better support the request of their avionics inspectors who wish to participate in AEA functions.
You will disseminate information on topics such as the AEA regional meetings, the annual convention and trade show, local training seminars in your geographic area and more. In addition, we will provide you with some basic introductory materials about the AEA and what resources are available to the FAA, what training topics are covered at our various meetings each year, and what resources we provide to our membership.
The investment of time to be an AEA Ambassador is minimal. Participation should not take more than 3 to 5 hours of your time per year.
