Director of Quality Assurance

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Quality Manager for the Repair Station will provide expertise in the areas of Quality Assurance for requirements from FAA Part 145 and EASA. The Quality Manager will ensure effective processes are established to comply with the various requirements applicable to the repair station. The Quality Manager will ensure organization preparedness for regulatory and customer audits.

JOB CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Supervises the QA area ensuring that business Quality objectives are being met, i.e. Evaluation turn times, assist with Final inspection and Paperwork Completion.
  • Ensure compliance to FAA Part 145, EASA-145 requirements & Quality Management System.
  • Ensures that all inspectors are following the requirements specified by the FAA regulations, SOP’s, and Repair Station / Quality Control Manual.
  • Make certain that all employees performing Safety Sensitive work are included in the DOT anti-Drug and Alcohol Program.
  • Maintains the repair station roster and work histories as required by FAA regulations.
  • Determines that the requested maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alteration can be accomplished within the applicable data despite any other damage or discrepancies noted.
  • Ensures all incoming, hidden damage, preliminary, in-process, and final inspections are performed in accordance with the procedures set forth in the Repair Station / Quality Control Manual.
  • Maintain calibrations record and checks are kept current, and the calibrations are performed in accordance with the Repair Station / Quality Control Manual.
  • Submit failures, malfunctions, or defects in accordance with the Repair Station / Quality Control Manual and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Act as the primary contact for issues that may arise related to Technical Data, Shelf Life, Calibrated Tooling, and Scrap Parts.
  • Maintain the repair station’s training program to ensure all training needs are met.
  • Performs the repair station’s “self-evaluation” to determine if an article can be added to the Capability List, along with the repair station “Self-Audit” that is required per the Repair Station / Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Ensure the availability and currency of the technical information required to perform work whenever a new article is introduced for maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alteration.
  • Performing other duties and maintaining other responsibilities as directed or required.
  • Maintain Repair Station Quality Manuals and Training Program.
  • Oversee Repair Station Anti-Drug and Alcohol program.
  • Maintain access to Customer Technical document portals.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between the repair station and the FAA.

Other responsibilities as assigned: 

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: 

Education: Relevant quality experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations

Years’ Experience: 10+ years of experience in FAA Part 145 Repair Station preferred

Skills Required:

  • Must have working Knowledge of FAA 14 CFR Parts 21, 39, 43, 65, 91, 121, 135, and 145.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a FAA Repairmen certificate.
  • Able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Must have good time management skills.
  • Must pass a FAA drug and alcohol pre-employment test.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suites.

WORK AUTHORIZATION: This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. U.S. Citizenship/Permanent residency is required for most positions.

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $100K-$135K

The position is located in Fillmore, California in Ventura County on a 10-acre private heliport. Fillmore is situated along the scenic Topatopa mountain range. A genuine sense of community in a town of 15,000 people, away from the hustle & bustle of Metropolitan Los Angeles; which exposes you to the world of agriculture, western history and a quiet way of life.
