Avionics Technician

Butte Aviation, Inc., located in beautiful SW Montana, is hiring an Avionics Technician:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities included, but not limited to:

  • Complete routine and non-routine maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing and replacing aircraft communication, navigational and electrical equipment.
  • Complete functional testing and inspections of the avionics on our fleet and customer aircraft.
  • Perform the installation and testing of electrical/avionics wire harnesses, components, and systems on aircraft per specifications, drawings, and maintenance manuals.
  • Build wire harnesses and install using acceptable practices for terminating, splicing, soldering of wiring, and coax cabling.
  • Set up and operates necessary test equipment to test transponder, communication and navigational equipment.

·         Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications.

  • Perform assigned duties with integrity to ensure quality standards are met on all required inspections and work assignments.

Required skills/Abilities:

  • Shows proficiency with avionics test equipment and inspection tools and possesses a working knowledge of standard test equipment, ohmmeters, pitot static test boxes, transponder test sets and comm/navigation testing equipment.
  • An ideal candidate must have problem solving and organizational skills and the ability to perform basic inspections and repairs.
  • Ability to learn new skills and methods of repair.
  •          An ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of pertinent, verifiable, practical experience.
  •          Verifiable general aviation, all-around flightline avionics experience.
  •          Experience with avionics system installation and avionics troubleshooting on aircraft.
  •          Ability to work off drawings, schematics and perform installs.
  •         Tech savvy with experience installing harnesses and programing
  • Must be comfortable in small, and sometimes uncomfortable spaces, for extended periods of time.
  • Candidates must provide their own basic hand tools or ability to acquire upon hire.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work meticulously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must be able to read, understand and accomplish maintenance manual procedures. Must be able to research, read wire prints, and order parts.
  • Utilizes a good understanding of electronic theory to effect timely repairs.
  • Demonstrates organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to perform consistently under stressful conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, aircraft wiring, and schematic diagrams.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations and industry standards governing avionics maintenance and installations.
  • Active, valid Driver’s License required.
  • High school diploma, or GED required.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and FAA regulated drug/alcohol tests prior to start. Will be enrolled in our random drug pool.
