If you hold the NCATT Aircraft Electronics Technician (AET) certification, you don't have to start over. The AET-to-CAET Full Stack Exam is a targeted upgrade exam that tests only the gap between your existing AET knowledge and the current CAET standard — skipping the categories you've already proven.

The upgrade exam is a separate, targeted exam designed for technicians who already hold the legacy NCATT Aircraft Electronics Technician (AET) certification. It covers only the gap between the AET content and the current CAET standard, giving experienced technicians a streamlined path to the current industry credential.
Technicians who hold a current or previously-held NCATT AET certification. If you've never held the AET, take the full CAET exam instead.
The full CAET exam covers all 8 topic areas. The upgrade exam covers only the content that is new or different in the CAET standard compared to the legacy AET. You are not re-tested on material you've already demonstrated.
The upgrade exam is $49 at the introductory rate (expires July 2026), then $59 at the standard rate. Register on the same USI platform used for the standard CAET exam.
80%. The upgrade exam has a higher passing threshold than the standard CAET (70%) to reflect the demonstrated experience expected of AET holders.
Yes. At registration you'll upload a photo of your AET card or certificate as proof of eligibility before you can access the upgrade exam.
