Avionics Product Support Engineer

Responsibilities
Nighthawk Flight Systems, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated individual to join us as an Avionics Product Support Engineer at our design and manufacturing facility in Vista, CA. The candidate will support customers with new avionics installations, aircraft avionics troubleshooting, product field-maintenance support, and new product development and integration testing. 

Compensation commensurate with relevant level of qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide phone, email and occasional field support to Nighthawk’s dealers, maintenance-repair-overhaul shops, original-equipment-manufacturers, and end-customers.
  • Assist with new avionics installations, helping to develop aircraft wiring diagrams and recommended system configurations.
  • Provide field-maintenance support for software upgrades and product database loading.
  • Help customers troubleshoot new and existing avionics installations.
  • Provide recommendations for new product development.
  • Assist the new product development team with recommended aircraft avionics interfaces, installation manual development, and lab integration testing setups.
  • Use precision measuring and analytical test equipment to verify and test avionics systems in the lab, hangar, and flight.
  • Develop and maintain a library of solutions for the product support website to help customers troubleshoot their aircraft independently.
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Analog and digital avionics interface wiring, assembly troubleshooting, and repair experience required.
  • Ability to read schematics and mechanical drawings and inspect electrical/mechanical components for design and installation compliance.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret assembly instructions and test procedures
  • Proactive problem-solving, failure mode identification, analytical, and multi-tasking skills
  • Possess the ability and patience to work effectively with customers over the phone.
  • Attentive to detail, self-motivated, self-disciplined, able to act decisively with the purposeful pursuit of goals or objectives, think strategically in terms of solutions, and generate vision
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of avionics installation experience required.
  • Certification or Associate degree in electronics preferred
  • Experience under an FAA-approved Part 145 Repair Station is highly desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • The ability to generate wiring diagrams with 2D CAD software such as AutoCAD is highly desirable.
  • Ability to develop and write installation instructions required.
  • Electronic automated test system setup and programming desirable
  • A&P license and/or military avionics maintenance experience a plus
