AVIONICS TECHNICIAN/INSTALLER

We are currently seeking an A&P Avionics Technician/Installer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities included, but not limited to:

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled avionics troubleshooting, diagnosing, maintenance and repairing of all aircraft avionics & electrical sytems.
  • Perform functional testing and inspections of the avionics systems on our fleet and customer aircraft including FAR 91:411 & 413 Inspections; FAR 91:207 ELT inspections.
  • Experience with Garmin; Collins; Honeywell Avionics system Databases, Software, Configurations, and Options loading.
  • Perform Aircraft Avionics modifications and Installations to include wire harnesses, components, and systems on aircraft per specifications, drawings, and maintenance manuals to include the building of wire harnesses and install using acceptable practices for terminating, splicing, soldering of wiring, and coax cabling.
  • Familiar with the set up and operations of necessary test equipment to test pitot/static systems, transponders, communications and navigational equipment.
  • Keeps a clean and organized work area including personal toolbox.
  • Participates in an on-call work schedule.
  • Other related work, responsibilities, and duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications (KSA's):

  • Airframe & Powerplant Certification required. (Or only Airframe Certificate considered)
  • A thorough understanding of the code of federal regulations for aviation.
  • Ability to follow all FAA and OEM specifications and ensure work complies with repair station manual and safety policies.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude, professional appearance, and demeanor.
  • Ability to climb on and around aircraft and perform required lifting, bending and manipulation of mechanisms as required to inspect and repair aircraft.
  • Ability to lift parts and components weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 400 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stand, lie, and kneel in awkward positions and spaces.
  • Ability to visually inspect equipment and identify defects; to hear well enough to test sounds and identify functioning level of aircraft.
  • Ability to work weekends (rotation on-call basis); ability to work safely.
  • Ability to pass a security background check and pre-employment drug screen.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three plus years' experience inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing both routine and complex maintenance on a variety of airframe types in a part 145 repair station setting.
  • Experience or training with piston type engine (General Aviation) aircrafts is highly desired.



Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in aircraft hangers, outdoors, and in tight aircraft spaces, and while regularly exposed to outdoor weather and moderate noise levels.
  • Physical strength and agility are required to lift heavy parts and equipment and to access all portions of the planes for inspection and repair purposes.
  • Inspection and repair of aircraft requires good visual acuity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Intermittent physical activity including standing, bending, reaching, and sitting.
  • Exposure to fumes from equipment operation.
  • Exposure to dust, dirt, oil/grease, fumes, and gases.
