Essential Job Functions:
- Repair and maintain communication, navigation, GPS, FMS, WX Radar and other avionics related systems.
- Perform troubleshooting of all systems installed on the aircraft.
- Remove existing avionics and install new avionics components and systems, including planning, engineering, installation, configuration and final testing.
- Perform all aircraft maintenance in accordance with applicable technical data and FAA regulations.
- Accurately document all work performed.
- Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Some occasional local travel may be required.
Required Experience:
- 3 years recent avionics experience.
- Garmin Avionics installation experance
- Wire repair knowledge
- Multimeter/Megohmmeter, Pitot/Static test equipment, Transponder test equipment.
- Reading schematics, and building wire harnesses in accordance with schematics.
- Building Coax cables.
- Soldering switches, pins, posts, etc.
Preferred Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree in avionics or a related field is preferred.
- Garmin installation and troubleshooting experience.
- Previously held Repairman’s certification, FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
- GA and Corporate aircraft experience
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Working conditions:
Western Plains Aviation performs maintenance primarily at its Greeley-Weld County Airport facility. Individuals considering employment with Western Plains Aviation must be willing to travel on occasion, work outside in inclement weather if needed, work overtime, and work on weekends if necessary.

- Push/pull aircraft using tow bar into resting position with hangar without assistance
- Climb on and under planes maintaining balance without fear of heights
- Quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects (manual dexterity)
- Keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position (arm hand steadiness)
- Quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or aircraft/vehicle to exact positions (control precision)
- Make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects (finger dexterity)
- Bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs (extension flexibility)
- Visually see details at close range
- Arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules
- Visualize how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged
- After taking something apart, be able to know exactly how to put it back together
- Remember the work that has been done or needs to be done on individual aircraft to effectively multi-task

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
