Senior Avionics Technician

Job Description:

NexAir Avionics, located in Plymouth, MA (KPYM), is a fast-paced, high-tech shop looking for Senior Avionics Technicians to perform full panel modifications, support junior technicians, and provide leadership to the avionics team.

To be this person, you will need to have years of experience working on general aviation avionics. Core knowledge of Garmin, Avidyne, and other major avionics manufacturers is a must.

Qualifications:

  • Avionics theory and troubleshooting
  • Technician management
  • Customer sales and interface
  • Computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and general software skills)
  • Understanding of electronic design practices
  • Installation and documentation of avionics products into aircraft
  • Ability to use precision measurement equipment
  • Ability to use electronic measurement equipment
  • Drawing and specification interpretation
  • Technical report writing skills
  • Performance to project schedule
  • Performance to project budget
  • Certification agency (FAA) interface

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in aerospace-related fields, preferably in avionics
  • FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) License with avionics background
  • Core knowledge of Garmin, Avidyne, and other major GA avionics manufacturers

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise installations of avionics in customers’ airplanes
  • Provide technical support for products in customers’ airplanes
  • Perform bench-level repair, test, and acceptance of aircraft avionics
  • Document field failures and squawks; provide management with regular reports on quality issues and installation problems
  • Report and correct installation problems
  • Support company development efforts with hardware prototyping and testing
  • Analyze installation requirements and develop mounting systems for avionics
  • Perform assembly and testing as required for circuit boards and higher-level assemblies
  • Develop internal procedures for repairs in accordance with FAA and ISO requirements
  • Travel to customer locations to perform installations, as required
  • Participate in and encourage continuous improvement of all technical functions
  • Interact with regulatory agencies as required
  • Adhere to FAA-approved repair station, quality, and training manuals
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the General Manager and Accountable Manager
