Avionics Technician

Job Summary


  • Employee must have hand skills and technical competency for avionics work on privately flown, corporately owned turbine aircraft fitted with avionics from Honeywell, Rockwell-Collins, Garmin, Avidyne, and others
  • Troubleshooting and repair skills are needed for Communication, Navigation, Auto-flight, and Instrumentation systems fitted to various business jet and turboprop aircraft
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, test, removes and replaces avionics and instrument wiring and systems installed in various airframes using hand tools, test equipment, technical documents, and technical reference materials
  • Performs inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, removal and replacement of aircraft instrument and avionics components and systems using various hand tools and test equipment to meet manufacturer's specifications, FAR's, industry standards, and Repair Station Manual (RSM) in a safe and organized work area
  • Attends factory and Company technical classes and participates in OJT to increase technical skills and proficiency
  • Communicates and interacts professionally with the internal and external customers to educate and answers questions regarding the technical functions of the customer's aircraft, within area of expertise
  • The work scope shall include line maintenance for in-service failures as well as installation of individual units and complete systems
  • Interact with ERP system – creating/managing/closing repair orders
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legal to work in the US

  • Experience in the General Aviation industry preferred
  • Willingness to be trained in other field positions to assist with coverage


  • More than 3 years of experience working on avionics
  • Previous work experience within FAA 145 repair station required
  • Secondary trade school and/or college within discipline required
  • Airframe License preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office and ERP (Pentagon) software
  • Proficiency with web based applications

  • Ability to foster trust and respect among customers and team members and build relationships accordingly
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to adapt communication style to audience
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, manage time effectively and meet deadlines accordingly
  • The successful candidate will be required to show proficiency in ramp test equipment for instrument, radio and auto-flight systems on-board aircraft
  • Candidate should be able to read and explain wiring diagrams including symbols, termination, wiring classification, and load analysis

Work Environment/Travel/Physical Demands:

  • Employee will perform maintenance and installations on private aircraft at customer locations
  • Work will be performed during business hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday
  • Weekend support and overtime are minimal
  • Local travel is required
  • Employee must have clean driving record, and ability to travel within 50 miles using personal vehicle
  • Routinely able to lift up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 100 lbs.; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; reads small print and identifies colors; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting FLSA Non-exempt
