Manufacturing Test Engineer II

About the Test Engineering II position

Our Test Engineers are key members of a multidisciplinary, tight-knit group of engineers and technicians who develop, support, test, and improve Avidyne's wide array of products and projects. Each member of the engineering team is required to both specialize in their field and cross-train in other disciplines.

This position is available immediately for an inquisitive individual with the passion problem solve, a keen interest in aviation, experience with both NI LabView and SolidWorks software, as well as familiarity with PCB layout. Routine activities include the design, development, and implementation of both manual and automated test equipment and software for production testing on both new and existing products. Secondary activities may include mechanical design and fabrication of test fixtures, design and fabrication of test related circuit card assemblies, participating in test software development, and creating or modifying test procedures toward continuous product improvement

Our Test Engineer II's responsibilities include:

  • Supporting bring up, validation, and development of new test hardware and systems
  • Supporting bring up, validation, and development of new test hardware and systems
  • Supporting the operational checkout of systems under test as well as providing training to test and operations personnel
  • Working closely with design, software, firmware, testing, and manufacturing teams
  • Providing technical support to manufacturing including hands-on debug of test systems
  • Monitoring yields and work to continuously improve production test process improving quality, manufacturability, delivery, and cost
  • Creating test design documentation including test instructions, specifications, drawing, and verification plans
  • Creating test fixtures to support manual and automated testing of module and system level products
  • Assisting with the creation of test requirement documentation including hardware test plans, block diagrams, interconnect diagrams, and reviews
  • Assisting with the development of designs to best support specifications and requirements, including cost as a key design variable
  • Assisting with DFT analysis of systems, subsystems, and PCBs
  • Assisting with peer design reviews
  • Providing ECO review, coordination, and implementation tasks as well as validating changes to existing procedures and equipment
  • Assisting with compiling budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments
  • Assisting with providing technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers
  • Providing technical support to manufacturing including hands-on debug of test systems.


  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal and written communication (including technical documentation)
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, moving deadlines, evolving requirements, and changing focus
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Strong understanding of functional test manual and automated testing strategies
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability with a high-level programming language (e.g., C++, Python).


  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Will consider technical experience in lieu of a degree
  • At least 4 years' experience in a similar test engineering role.

Other Desirable Experience:

  • Avionics, aviation background or enthusiast
  • Private pilot's license
  • Familiarity with PCB Layout
  • SolidWorks or other Cad experience
  • NI LabView experience.
