Field Service Representative

About the Field Service Representative position

Whether you love providing technical support or having the knowledge and know how to operate Avidyne avionics, our field service representatives enjoy the flexibility of a multi-faceted job that allows them to play a large role in our continuous growth.

Our detail-oriented field service reps know the specifications, capabilities and operation of our avionics products. They can provide technical support remotely or on-site and can even complete installations in an aircraft manufacturing environment - of course, ensuring strict compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. While we strive for continual innovation, we ensure our combination of performance, safety, quality, value, innovation and ease of operation give our pilots an unwavering level of confidence when they're up in the air.

Our Field Service Representative's Responsibilities include:

  • Becoming highly knowledgeable in the specifications, capabilities, and operation of avionics, with an emphasis on Avidyne products
  • Answering customer and installer technical inquiries regarding Avidyne products
  • Traveling to customer facilities to provide on-site support of avionics installations and troubleshooting, as required
  • Arranging for repair of customer equipment to be returned to the factory
  • Arranging for exchange of out of box failures of Avidyne equipment
  • Acting as a liaison between customers and other departments within Avidyne
  • Monitoring documenting, and reporting failure trends in Avidyne equipment
  • Identifying and recommending improvements in Avidyne products, documentation, and procedures
  • Reviewing special circumstances and authorizing warranty service when deemed appropriate
  • Reviewing owner's manuals, installation manuals, and maintenance manuals for completeness, technical accuracy, and areas likely to be misinterpreted
  • Supporting Avidyne avionics training, both internally and externally
  • Serving on a rotation for 24/7 aviation technical support coverage
  • Representing Avidyne at industry and professional meetings, virtual training events, in-person training events, conferences, and trade shows, as required.

  • Broad knowledge of aircraft systems and avionics sub-systems

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree (or higher) in related field. Will consider trade school or military experience in lieu of a degree
  • 4+ years’ experience in aviation or aerospace technical customer support

Other Desirable Experience

  • Pilot’s license
  • A&P and FCC licenses
  • Prior experience with presenting at trade shows and dealers
  • Working knowledge of FAR’s 135, 43, 91, and 25 operations
  • Working knowledge or familiarity of FAA documents pertaining to certification and compliance
