Avionics Technician
DNT Avionics in Grand Junction, Colorado is looking for an Avionics Technician experienced with avionics installations and trouble-shooting on airplanes and helicopters. This position will be based in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Work Hours:
M-Thurs 8-5:30
F - 8-12:00 am
Job Duties:
Installation of new avionics equipment
Repairs, replaces, and performs operational/functional tests on instruments, radios, navigation and aircraft
flight control equipment, stabilization systems, avionics systems.
Troubleshoots equipment and traces avionic equipment wiring harnesses using technical manuals and
schematic drawings to diagnose and isolate faults and effect repairs.
Diagnose malfunctions using special and common hand tools, test measurement and diagnostic
equipment.
Adhering to FAA Part 145 Repair Station practices
Be able to effectively communicate with other employees, and customers
Present a positive professional attitude and appearance
Constant variation in dealing with new technology avionics as well as legacy equipment
Qualifications/Licenses:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Graduate from an Aviation Electronics training school or military equivalent program preference
A&P License a preference
Required Skills/Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience with avionics installations and repair of avionics systems in general
aviation aircraft
Experience with avionics system in single engine airplanes and maybe helicopters
Thorough knowledge of common tools, special tools, hardware and equipment used in the maintenance of
aircraft avionics and instrument components/systems.
Experience with Garmin
Flexibility in work schedule
Must be able to troubleshoot related systems and interpret applicable wiring schematics and technical data.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Experience in Avionics install and upgrade
Experience with Garmin Avionics
Strong Computer Skills. Experienced with Microsoft Office
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
Must be able to climb stairs, climb up and down aircraft, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach
above/below shoulders.
May be required to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.
Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software
applications.
Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.
May work in maintenance shop or outside.
