Avionics Specialist
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Avionics Specialist will perform avionics inspections, troubleshooting, and installations across a mixed general aviation fleet, while helping maintain and grow our Part 145 repair station's capabilities. This role involves diagnosing complex system issues, assisting with installation planning and scoping, and supporting field approval documentation for non-standard installations. You'll contribute to a growing repair station team focused on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
DUTIES & TASKS: strong>
§ Prepare and plan avionics installations by reviewing aircraft configuration, technical data, wiring diagrams, equipment requirements, parts availability, labor scope, and documentation needs before work begins.
§ Install avionics components, communication/navigation systems, autopilot systems, and related equipment.
§ Inspect, test, and troubleshoot avionics and electrical systems to identify and resolve malfunctions.
§ Fabricate, route, and secure wire harnesses in accordance with FAA requirements and manufacturer guidance.
§ Assist with field approval and FAA Form 337 documentation for non-standard installations.
§ Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, and test results in accordance with repair station requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS: span>
§ Minimum of 5 years of experience as an avionics technician.
§ Strong working knowledge of avionics systems, electrical circuits, system interfaces, and troubleshooting practices.
§ Experience working in an FAA Part 145 repair station environment.
§ Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and installation documentation.
§ Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
§ FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate required.
§ Field approval and FAA Form 337 experience preferred.
§ Turbine or pressurized aircraft experience is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: span>
§ Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
§ Stand, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
§ Use hands and precision tools for wiring, soldering, and work involving small fasteners.
§ Climb ladders and work on aircraft at varying heights.
§ Work in a hangar or shop environment with exposure to changing environment
