Avionics Radio Technician

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, or other technical data to determine the feasibility and method to perform the assigned task.
  • Avionics Radio Technicians, under supervision, may install, repair, align, maintain, service and/or tune the following: radio, radar, microwave electronic communication systems receivers and transmitters, including analog and digital HF, UHF and VHF equipment, intercom audio panels and audio amplifiers and public address systems by using electronic test equipment and other electronic devices.
  • Locates and isolates defects in electronic equipment; repair, replace, and troubleshoot defective parts; install electronic units and associated electrical elements.
  • Performs tests and/or checks as required to confirm component and system serviceability by utilizing special tools, circuit testers, meters, and equipment.
  • Documents all inspection findings and work performed/corrective action in the appropriate maintenance records.
  • Maintains work areas and tools in a clean and organized manner, practices proper tool and FOD control.
  • Performs work safely and utilizes the appropriate technical data for the assigned task.
  • Monitors and supports continuous improvement activities by utilizing Lean and continuous improvement tools striving to identify and eliminate waste in all its forms in an effort to improve quality and safety, decrease lead time and reduce cost.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education or advance instruction relative to technical field is preferred.
  • Requires 3+ years’ experience performing line and bench maintenance on a variety of aircraft avionics communication/navigation radio repair systems and components.
  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license preferred (Airframe license is equivalent to 1 year experience. Powerplant license is equivalent to 1 year experience. A&P license is equivalent to 2 years’ experience).
  • Requires knowledge of standard wiring practices using contact crimp tools, inserting/extracting tools, wire stripping methods, connective types and contacts.
  • Experience with wire routing requirements.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment and hand tools appropriate to the assigned tasks
  • General mechanics hand tools and appropriate tool box are required.
  • CH-47 or CH-46 specific experience preferred; Military or commercial aviation avionics training preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment

  • Monitors and supports continuous improvement activities by utilizing Lean and continuous improvement tools striving to identify and eliminate waste in all its forms in an effort to improve quality and safety, decrease lead time and reduce cost.

  • Must have knowledge in the proper operation of a multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and soldering equipment. Must have electronic component level theory and be able to identify symbols on schematics and wiring diagrams.                  
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment and hand tools appropriate to the assigned tasks; general mechanics hand tools and appropriate tool box are required.
  • Military or commercial aviation avionics training preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

An Avionics Technician plans and coordinates daily activities to maximize efficiency and accuracy and carries out assigned avionics duties in accordance with proper procedures, methods, practices and techniques.  

Responsibilities:

  • Has a full understanding of all appropriate airworthiness requirements of Part 43 of 14 CFR and the company manual system.
  • Performs avionics maintenance, alterations, and installations on aircraft using the methods, techniques, and practices prescribed in current drawings and instruction, or other methods, techniques and practices contained in the company manual system; using the tools, equipment, and test apparatus, within the current calibration, to assure completion of the work is in accordance with accepted industry practices. 
  • Is thoroughly familiar with the methods, techniques and equipment used in the maintenance of the products the incumbent is assigned to work.
  • Has a working knowledge of the instructions applicable to the product the incumbent is assigned to work.
  • Initiates and executes forms, tags, and other paperwork associated with the job.
  • Reports all matters incongruous with the principles of airworthiness to the supervisor, inspection personnel, or if necessary, to management.
  • Accomplishes all avionics tasks while maintaining liaison with inspection personnel in order to expedite the completion of assigned tasks and maintain a continuity of inspection. 
  • If necessary for continuity, makes both written and verbal turnovers.
  • Ensures that precision tools and test equipment that are used on a job are within the calibration frequency established by the company M&TE Calibration Program and functionally serviceable prior to use.
  • Ensures that safety equipment is utilized and that safety procedures are followed when situations prevail.
  • Ensures that only current instructions are used on the job.
  • Possesses sufficient hand tools to perform duties as required. Submits personal precision tools to the company M&TE Calibration Program.
  • Attends training programs as established or scheduled by the company and attains a passing grade when so established by the training institution or the company.
  • Makes proper entries on forms, tags, and work orders used by the company and assumes responsibility for work by signing off all work performed by signature, or I.D. stamp as directed.
  • Maintains assigned work area(s) clean and orderly at all times.
  • Maintain the highest level of quality and integrity.
  • Other duties as may be deemed necessary.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P) with no history of infractions and recent A&P experience on turbine powered aircraft.
  • Factory or equivalent training on Gulfstream, Falcon, LearJet, Challenger, Hawker, or Citation aircraft preferred.
  • Experience working under a FAA approved Part 145 repair station required and Part 135 experience preferred.
  • Inspection Authorization and/or FCC License a plus.
  • Must be able to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work days, nights, weekends, and overtime if needed.

Crew Chief

Responsibilities:

The Crew Chief is responsible for troubleshooting aircraft discrepancies and implementing corrective action. The Crew Chief has ultimate responsibility for the quality of maintenance work and turn time. This position is key in projecting a competent image to our customers.

  • Uses deductive reasoning in technical issues.
  • Coordinates multiple activities to accomplish the required maintenance by the promised delivery date.
  • Supervises a crew of technicians in the performance of aircraft maintenance. Appraises, recommends salary and other status changes, rewards, recognizes and disciplines members of the crew. Assures that technicians are held accountable for the quality of the maintenance work that they perform.
  • Assigns work to crew members based upon scheduled outdates and the technical expertise of the various employees.
  • Provides technical guidance to technicians on aircraft maintenance configurations, as well as service bulletins, directives, and enhancements. Must be up-to-date on scope of required maintenance for customers and coordinates efforts to ensure a timely turnaround.
  • With the manager, pre-plans work scopes on aircraft, including deploying manpower, pre-ordering parts, opening the work order and customer debriefing. Writes all additional items and squawks identified during inspection.
  • Monitors hours charged to a job to assure that costs are controlled and outdates met. Reviews employee time cards on a daily basis to verify accuracy of time charged to work orders.
  • Informs department manager or customer project manager of problems and work status so that communications with the customers are timely and complete.
  • Reviews workbook for sign-offs and parts issues after departure, but prior to closing in the inspection department. May perform final “walk around” to ensure aircraft cleanliness and readiness for departure.
  • Assures that crew members are well-trained on assigned aircraft, that they are scheduled for periodic technical training in-house or at designated off-site locations. Works cooperatively with other Crew Chiefs or shops to assure cross-training on other aircraft.
  • Performs ‘hands-on’ maintenance as required to assure an on-time departure and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinates with other departments as needed to assure that customers have a positive experience at the facility.
  • Actively works to simplify for efficiency, ease of work performance, quality, and turnaround time.
  • Supports and adheres to safety, environmental and general housekeeping policies. Is proactive in the area of safety; promotes safe work habits to the crew, monitors the work environment for safety hazards and takes steps to address/remove hazards.
  • Performs other duties as required by the department.

Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • A&P Certificate.
  • A minimum of seven years experience as an A&P Mechanic in corporate aviation working with Falcons.
  • Experience leading or supervising a crew.
  • Demonstrated technical ability on airframes in the areas of heavy maintenance, light maintenance, and service bulletins.

About the Regional Account Manager position

Summary:

The Customer Account Manager (CAM) is responsible for serving as the primary customer contact and conducts day-to-day account management and order processing in support of their assigned accounts / territory. Job Overview:

Requirements:

  • 3 - 5 years experience as A&P Mechanic required. (Honeywell TFE 731 series shop experience preferred)
  • Must have the ability to think clearly, speak intelligibly on the telephone and in person.

JOB SUMMARY:

To perform operational checks, troubleshooting, and repairs of avionics and electrical avionics on Part 91 single and multi engine piston and turbine.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform typical maintenance operations, such as cabling, component removal and installation, wire harness removal and installation, fabrication and repair or wire assemblies, and continuity checks.
  • Must be able to determine if work can safely be accomplished if aircraft is in a power on mode and be able to conduct necessary testing if in power on mode.
  • Must be capable and experienced in the removal and installation of avionics systems.
  • Must know and understand manufacturer’s installation specifications, or maintenance manuals related to specific job to be accomplished.
  • Must be able to fabricate and install all wiring assemblies, static lines and associated mechanical equipment per drawings.
  • Must be able to perform 91.411 and 91.413 checks

Job Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • A&P License or ability to hold Repairman's Certificate is required
  • Own working tools must be furnished
  • Individuals will have aviation electrical/Avionics experience working on aircraft

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience on Piper, Cessna, Beech, MU-2 preferred
  • Experience on Bell 206, Eurocopter EC135/145 preferred
  • Experience with Garmin, Avidyne, Bendix preferred
