Northeast Air is looking for an experienced Avionics Technician to support our Avionics Manager in our rapidly growing Pilatus Service Center and FAA 145 repair station in Portland, Maine. Full-time Monday thru Friday position, with occasional on-call schedule for the weekends. Benefits eligible with a competitive wage commensurate with experience. Essential Responsibilities: Responsible for installation and testing of aircraft electronics equipment and systems, fabrication, termination and testing of avionics system wiring harness, and the disassembly and reassembly of aircraft interior and instrument panels. The right candidate must be able to read and understand wiring diagrams and other installation technical data. Skills Required: • Must be able to pass a DOT-FAA pre-employment drug screening physical. • Valid driver’s license required • Must have sufficient experience to obtain a Repairman’s Certificate. • 2+ years of recent experience in General Aviation Avionics preferred • Experience on Pilatus PC 12 aircraft, King Air & CJ-525’s preferred • Excellent troubleshooting skills and solid knowledge of all aircraft mechanical and electrical system functions and interactions. • Strong background in Garmin, Honeywell & Collins avionics products. • Working knowledge of FAA regulations and Inspection Procedures. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, both oral and written, possess strong listening skills, the ability to problem-solve, be well organized, have a keen attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and with a team. Proficiency on the computer and spreadsheet programs a must. The position requires the ability to deliver accuracy under pressure and time constraints while being flexible as needed to accommodate internal and external customer needs.

Avionics Technician Assistant

The Avionics Technician Assistant supports our Avionics Technicians in aircraft avionics service and installation, including the preparation of aircraft for service, fabrication of wiring harnesses, performance of equipment inspections, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare incoming aircraft as necessary for avionics installation.
  • Configure wiring harnesses in accordance with factory wiring diagrams.
  • Document work performed using work order documents and log entries as necessary.
  • Assist with returning completed aircraft to service.
  • Remain current with repair station and manufacturer training as assigned.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Electronics training and/or experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to pass a DOT/FAA pre-employment drug screening.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel, if necessary.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual with the desire and ability to learn in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with aircraft systems and electronics is considered a plus, but not required. This entry-level position provides significant opportunity for growth within the company.

This is a full-time position. Part-time options will be considered for strong candidates. The starting pay rate is $13 - $15 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Qualified applicants will have a minimum of 5 years of experience managing/supervising an avionics lab in the aircraft industry and a minimum of 10 years of aircraft avionics with experience in general aviation avionics.
