Job Description:

  • Provide timely and accurate information to both internal/external customers seeking information related to general aviation electronics and capabilities via phone and email.
  • Effectively and efficiently, work with customers in determining product purchase options based on vendor specifications. Suggest upgrades when possible.
  • Seek out new business via cold calling, email campaigns and attendance at trade-shows.
  • Research order status, logistics, vendor and product information as needed for resolution of all customer inquiries and/or sales disputes.
  • Accurately process customer orders/changes/returns according to established department policies and procedures.
  • Carefully document customer inquiries via internal ticket system noting issue, desired resolution and actual resolution.
  • Work closely with manager to assist with the continuous process improvement supporting the distribution of accurate information to customers and accurate building product to specifications.
  • Consistently improve product knowledge and understanding in keeping with knowledge gaps and changing business needs via product webinars/live training/brochures/Internet

Required Skills

  • 4 or more years’ experience in aviation electronics sales or support; Commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret product operations and specifications materials, including diagrams, wiring, charts and schematics.
  • Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills; second language a plus.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work proactively and effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and multitask;
  • Experience with the use Microsoft Office or similar applications including good knowledge of Outlook, Excel and Word, in a business environment. Experience using ERP systems such as SAP/NetSuite. Type 50 WPM.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and coordinate work with that of technicians, and other aircraft maintenance personnel.

As an experienced Avionics Technician, you will support our fleet of RJ85, CL415 and Dash 8/Q400 aircraft avionics system from diagnosing to repair and installations. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Field assignments to support customer requirements on a rotation based schedule

  • Accurately interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, system schematics, drawings, and engineering order

The Avionics Installer is responsible for performing routine maintenance and major inspections on aircraft and engines. Trouble-shooting, repair, and modification of aircraft components and engines are accomplished by this position. Maintenance experience with Falcon, Lear, Challenger, Embraer, Cessna and/or Hawker airframes is strongly preferred.
 

  • Tests, installs, and/or repairs electrical/avionics equipment and systems, including systems and controls contained in the flight compartment. Routes wire throughout aircraft tying into both new and factory installed wire bundles, and may assist in functional check-out and troubleshooting of all wiring systems.  Performs less difficult assignments without assistance or supervision.  Care and precision must be exercised in order to ensure quality installations, on-time deliveries, and satisfied customers. 
  • Installs, aligns, and wires electrical and electronic components such as instruments, sensors, radio communications, antennas, J-boxes, lights, etc.
  • Determines the best location and method for installing and removing electronic equipment and systems by applying general trade practices and adhering to prints originated by Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, various mod centers (STC’s), and many aircraft manufacturers’ wiring diagrams.
  • Fabricates wiring harnesses; solders connector plugs; strips and hand lugs wiring; identifies wiring and fabricates and installs surface control indicating systems; performs terminal splicing; wires junction boxes; routes wiring and conduit; and performs any other electrical bench or installation work as necessary to complete the electrical repair or modification of the aircraft.
  • Performs continuity checks and may assist in the functional check-out of complete aircraft systems.
  • Assists in performing more complex electrical work as required.  May assist in troubleshooting, locating, and correcting wiring difficulties.
  • Operates hand and power tools.  May operate electrical test equipment.  Must be familiar with color coding and symbols used in identifying hardware and components.
  • Must have knowledge of power sources and bonding and grounding techniques.
  • Adheres to shop standards, various manufacturers’ standards and practices and has knowledge of various federal and military standards including FAA Advisory Circulars.
  • Documents all work accomplished (a.k.a. sign-off) in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
  • Works fair share of overtime and travels to customer locations or other Standard Aero facilities as required.
  • Responsible for knowing, understanding, following, promoting and continuously improving company policies and procedures.
  • Observes all safety, environmental and general housekeeping rules and policies.
  • May perform other duties as required by the department.

Nature and Scope

Supervises a crew of leads and technicians in the performance of avionics and electrical systems maintenance and installation of complex avionics and electrical systems. Assures that technicians are held accountable for the quality of the maintenance work that they perform. Appraises, recommends salary and other status changes, rewards, recognizes, and disciplines members of the crew.

This position requires the ability to:

  • Use deductive reasoning in technical issues
  • Coordinate multiple activities to accomplish the required maintenance by the promised delivery date

 

Essential Duties

  • Assists lead technicians with assignment of work to crew members based upon scheduled out dates and the technical expertise of the various employees. Provides technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance to technicians on aircraft maintenance and/or install configurations, as well as service bulletins, directives, and enhancements. Must be up-to-date on scope of required maintenance and coordinates efforts to ensure a timely turnaround. 
  • With the Department Manager, pre-plans work scopes on aircraft including engineering coordination, deploying manpower, pre-ordering parts, and customer debriefing.
  • Coordinates with other departments in scheduling arrivals/departures, job flow, and communicating with the customer or CPM on the status of work.
  • Monitors hours charged to a job to assure that costs are controlled and schedule dates are met. Reviews employee time cards on a daily basis to verify accuracy of time charged to work orders.
  • Performs final “walk around” to ensure aircraft cleanliness and readiness for departure. Reviews workbook for sign offs and parts issues prior to presenting to the inspection department.
  • Assures that crew members are well-trained on assigned aircraft that they are scheduled for periodic technical training in-house or at designated off-site locations. Works cooperatively with other Crew Chiefs or shops to assure cross-training on other aircraft and/or systems.
  • Coordinates with other departments as needed to assure that customers have a positive experience at the facility.
  • Actively works to simplify for efficiency, ease of work performance, quality, and turnaround time. Ensures that safe work practices are employed consistently on each aircraft job or throughout the shop.
  • Supports and adheres to safety, environmental, and general housekeeping policies. Is proactive in the area of safety; promotes safe work habits to the crew, monitors the work environment for safety hazards and takes steps to address/remove hazards.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, professionalism, and a positive customer service attitude without compromising quality. 
  • Performs other duties as required by the department.

 

     

Position Requirements 

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 7-10 years’ experience as an Avionics Technician in corporate aviation.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in Avionics Modifications in corporate aviation.
  • Prior supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership skills that promote teamwork and collaboration.
  • Must have demonstrated exemplary technical ability in specialty area.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical avionics problems.

Essential Functions

Job Purpose

  The Aircraft Repair Technician (under moderate supervision) performs aircraft maintenance, inspection and repair. (e.g. inspection, repair assembly of airframe components).

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Aircraft Inspection and repair
  • Avionics troubleshooting, software loading, Nav Database updates.
  • Recommends replacement, repair, or modification of aircraft equipment based on inspection.?
  • Reports issues, malfunctions, unusual wear, or damage to appropriate personnel, as required.?
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues
  • Installs, removes, or modifies aircraft structures, systems, or components, following drawings, schematics, charts, engineering orders, and technical publications.
  • ?Troubleshoot, repair, clean, service, inspect, modify, replace and/or overhaul aircraft and aircraft systems using approved data to ensure airworthiness.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

The A&P Mechanic is responsible for performing routine maintenance and major inspections on corporate aircraft. Troubleshooting, repair, and modification of aircraft components is accomplished by this position. In addition, engine removal and reinstallation, operational checks, leak checks, and engine runs are all within the responsibility of the Mechanic, A&P. This position supports second shift operations.

  • Removes and reinstalls engines from turbofan and turboprop powered aircraft.
  • Responsible for using sound judgment and technical aptitude to make decisions regarding maintenance, sequence, and techniques, troubleshooting and discrepancy resolution.
  • Performs operational checks and engine runs to ensure air-worthiness prior to departure.
  • Inspects aircraft in accordance with OEM Light or Heavy Maintenance Manuals
  • Evaluates removed components for serviceability and documents discrepancies (squawks). Reinstalls and tests components after completed inspection.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs all airframe systems as required (hydraulics, landing gear, etc.).
  • May perform fuel tank sealing on aircraft.
  • Documents all work accomplished (aka sign-off) in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
  • Accomplishes Service Bulletins, Repair Letters, and Airworthiness Directives as required.
  • Reads and interprets maintenance manual procedures, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematic diagrams when required.
  • Responsible for knowing, understanding, following, promoting, and continuously improving company policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes a variety of mechanical problems and determines the cause and best method of repair.
  • Tests operation and repairs/adjusts, as required: engines, engine controls and accessories, propellers and controls, landing gear, hydraulic systems and servicing, and flight controls, and adjusts rigging as required.
  • Checks and repairs fuel, oil, oxygen, heating, cooling and pressurization systems.
  • Utilizes mechanics hand tools, precision measuring instruments, gauges and calibration test equipment.
  • Observes all safety, environmental and general housekeeping rules and policies.
  • May perform other duties as required by the department.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • A valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License is required.
  • Minimum 1-3 years corporate aviation experience on Learjet, Hawker, Falcon Jet, Challenger, and/or Embraer.
  • Must have proven mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Must have proven experience using a variety of hand and/or power tools.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills required, both verbal and written.
  • Must be available to work second shift, with overtime and weekends as needed.

As Database Systems Engineer, your work will consist of life-cycle development activities for intermediate projects, applying systems engineering processes to update and create new avionics products through certification, demonstration of product compliance to customer and/or regulatory requirements, and in-service product support. This position requires some instructions and supervision on work assignments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

Knowledge and utilization of UA's systems development processes and procedures to complete the following tasks:

  • For somewhat complex, intermediate-scale projects and product changes:
    • Develop (or revise) content for the data quality requirements documents and the aeronautical database tool qualification test procedures.
    • Ensure system requirements are allocated from customer and industry documents and traced to subsystems e.g., hardware, software, and database.
    • Develop (or revise) content for the aeronautical database compliance matrix report(s).
    • Resolve documentation review comments and findings.
    • Perform aeronautical database tool qualification testing and take action to resolve test discrepancies.
    • Develop/revise content for the aeronautical database compliance plan, and the aeronautical database processing procedures.
    • Perform aeronautical database processing.
    • For aeronautical database products, administer required regulatory notifications, support internal compliance audits, and perform periodic and event-driven reviews.
  • Additional duties:
    • Participate in product team meetings.
    • Report milestone progress to senior systems engineers, managers, and program management.
    • Address product support and field service technical questions.
    • Review product support installation manuals, wiring diagrams, operator manuals, and configuration manuals.
    • Provide inputs to the problem report authors and investigate simple problem reports.
    • When necessary, support RTCA/DO-200 tool, requirements test plan, procedures, testing, verification reports and results.

We are seeking a full-time Avionics Installation Technician  in our New Century, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting and testing certified and experimental avionics systems in FAR (Federal Aviation Regulations) part 23, 25, 27 and 29 aircraft. 

Essential Functions

  • Develop documentation, testing and training plans for new avionics systems to meet internal/external needs
  • Modify aircraft to accommodate panel and remote mounted avionics equipment with demonstrated wiring, termination techniques and harness skills
  • Prepare new aircraft wiring harnesses in accordance with Engineering drawings and installation documents
  • Troubleshoot existing avionics installation interconnects with an advanced understanding of repair station practices
  • Ability to apply solutions and support advanced installations
  • Use ramp test equipment to verify proper function of installed avionics
  • Partner with Engineering in development and verification of new installation documentation
  • Complete Repair Station and aircraft paperwork (logbook entries, FAA 337, W&B, etc.)
  • Compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements
  • Mentor lower-level technicians and apprentices
  • Assist in maintenance and aircraft movement in the hangar

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years general aviation, maintenance or avionics experience and/or equivalent combination of education, military aviation experience and/or aviation related experience
  • Must possess experience substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description with installing avionics systems in piston, turbine and turbojet aircraft
  • Must possess demonstrated ability to read/interpret aircraft wiring diagrams and installations manuals with the ability to determine basic system integration and configuration
  • Demonstrated ability of aircraft wiring harness termination techniques, wire harness fabrication and harness installation techniques in general aviation aircraft
  • Demonstrated ability in the operational testing and modification of aircraft pitot-static systems, including aircraft transponder testing and RVSM requirements
  • Knowledge of FAA Regulations relating to avionics installations, testing requirements and how to apply those to assigned tasks
  • Must possess the ability to routinely bend, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally team lift up to 100 lbs. while using safe lifting techniques; pushing/pulling equipment up to 200 lbs.; standing and sitting for extended periods of time; kneeling, stooping, crouching, and crawling; climbing and utilizing ladders to connect cables and walking long distances throughout the facility; repetitive motion; tolerates products, materials and fumes associated with aircraft maintenance; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet
  • Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments

Nature and Scope

Supervises a crew of leads and technicians in the performance of avionics and electrical systems maintenance and installation of complex avionics and electrical systems. Assures that technicians are held accountable for the quality of the maintenance work that they perform. Appraises, recommends salary and other status changes, rewards, recognizes, and disciplines members of the crew.

This position requires the ability to:

  • Use deductive reasoning in technical issues
  • Coordinate multiple activities to accomplish the required maintenance by the promised delivery date

Essential Duties

  • Assists lead technicians with assignment of work to crew members based upon scheduled out dates and the technical expertise of the various employees. Provides technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance to technicians on aircraft maintenance and/or install configurations, as well as service bulletins, directives, and enhancements. Must be up-to-date on scope of required maintenance and coordinates efforts to ensure a timely turnaround. 
  • With the Department Manager, pre-plans work scopes on aircraft including engineering coordination, deploying manpower, pre-ordering parts, and customer debriefing.
  • Coordinates with other departments in scheduling arrivals/departures, job flow, and communicating with the customer or CPM on the status of work.
  • Monitors hours charged to a job to assure that costs are controlled and schedule dates are met. Reviews employee time cards on a daily basis to verify accuracy of time charged to work orders.

Duties

The RCMP Air Services is a national program providing airborne law enforcement consisting of the policy centre (Air Services Branch) in Ottawa at National Headquarters and divisional air sections. Work environment

Position Description:

  • The A&P Mechanic is responsible for using sound judgment and technical aptitude to make decisions regarding maintenance, sequence, and techniques, troubleshooting and discrepancy resolution.
  • Customers are present on site at the Hangar facilities. Therefore, professionalism in appearance and communication skills is required in order to create a positive and lasting professional relationship.
  • Disassembly and re-assembly of all 731 engine types and models.
  • May be asked to inspect engine parts upon removal, taking measurements to match upon re-assembly.
  • Stages and de-stages engines.
  • Evaluates removed components for serviceability and document discrepancies (squawks).
  • Documents all work accomplished (a.k.a. sign-off) in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
  • Accomplish Service Bulletins, Repair Letters, and Airworthiness Directive as required.
  • Reads and interprets maintenance manual procedures, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematic diagrams when required.
  • Responsible for knowing, understanding, following, promoting, and continuously improving company policies and procedures.
  • Observes all safety, environmental and general housekeeping rules and policies.
  • May perform other duties as required by the department.

As Systems Test Engineer your responsibilities will consist of life-cycle development and update test activities for complex systems that include generation of test plans, procedures, and reports. You will perform functional testing, support environmental, manufacturing testing and also estimate the time required to complete assigned tasks. This position requires supervision and review of work assignments by the Department Manager. This position has growth potential to a Systems Engineering position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

For safety critical, complex product development and update projects, perform the following tasks as assigned by the Senior Systems Engineer and/or Department Manager:

  • Responsible for oversight and support updates to test rigs used by systems and software engineering, including:
    • Updating test rig configurations.
    • Troubleshooting problems with product test rigs.
    • Loading software.
  • Responsible for evaluating system functions during test, reporting findings to the Senior Systems Engineer, and coordinating with the Senior Systems Engineer on possible improvements, including:
    • Generating test plans and procedures for new system requirements and updated software.
    • Executing the testing plans.
    • Creating, modifying, and performing regression testing of safety critical and essential pre-existing product functionality.
  • Design Functional Test Boxes for UA products that simulate aircraft sensors.
  • Perform ATP & ENV qual test equipment fault detection testing.
  • Generate DVT planning documentation and execute functional tests for credit.
  • Perform TRR ATPs.
  • Assist with resolving product faults and failures found in the field.

Other Duties:

  • Assist Senior Systems Engineers in addressing technical questions as needed.
  • Review product support installation manuals, operator manuals, and configuration manuals.
  • Systems technical resource for hardware qualification testing.

  • Generate/update the following S&R life cycle data in accordance with UA Business Management System (BMS) processes:  Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Reliability Predictions, Preliminary System Safety Assessment (PSSA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Built-In Test (BIT) Assessment, and System Safety Assessments (SSA) for engineering development projects with minimal S&R Manager oversight. 
  • Review S&R assessments performed by S&R Engineers Level 1/Level 2/Level 3, as appropriate, as tasked by the S&R Engineering Manager. 
  • Support Research & Development (R&D) efforts, as appropriate.
  • Assist S&R Manager in annual departmental budget process, as appropriate. 
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Generate and review Problem Reports.
  • Review and approve life cycle data generated by other Engineering departments on engineering development projects.
  • Participate in and/or present at UA and customer design reviews, as appropriate.
  • Present status of S&R tasks to project teams.

  • Responsible for Quality activities for software development lifecycle adhering to DO-178 and DO-254 standards.
  • Execute Software Quality Assurance Plan (SQAP) and Hardware Process Assurance Plans (HPAP) in order to comply with customer and FAA specifications including but not limited to Project Lifecycle Document reviews, build and load witnessing, Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), integration activities, Software or Hardware Conformity Reviews (SCR/ HCR) and archival of Quality artifacts.
  • Support product development and control of work transfers from manufacturing.
  • Provides local oversight of BMS; reviews and approves BMS processes and documents.
  • Develop and maintain quality processes to support regulatory and BMS requirements.
  • Provides support for internal and external company audits, including planning and conducting audits and implementing corrective actions.
  • Review project plans and standards to assure that they comply with the regulatory requirements and BMS processes.
  • Assists in auditing project work for compliance with plans and standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

Working knowledge of UA's systems development processes and procedures to complete the following tasks:

  • For moderately complex, medium-scale projects and product changes:
    • Estimate the time required to complete assigned tasks.
    • Develop (or revise) content for the functional description document, the system requirements data, the interface description document, design verification test procedures, and human factors test procedures.
    • Ensure system requirements are allocated from customer and industry documents and traced to subsystems e.g., hardware and software.
    • Resolve documentation review comments and findings.
    • Perform systems bench testing, design verification testing, human factors testing, acceptance testing, problem report testing and take action to resolve test discrepancies.
    • Generate in-lab, on-aircraft, and design verification test reports.
    • As applicable, provide inputs to problem reports and/or changes that include flight deck effects, operational impacts, and system safety analysis.
  • Additional duties:
    • Participate in product team meetings.
    • Report milestone progress to managers and program management.
    • Address product support and field service technical questions.
    • Review product support installation manuals, operator manuals, and configuration manuals.
    • Review and recommend changes to aircraft wiring diagrams.
    • Review product circuit card assembly schematics and operation description documents.
    • Provide technical support for environmental qualification testing.
    • Author and investigate problem reports.
    • Fulfill the role of Systems Lead on projects.
    • Recommend improvements to systems development processes and company products.
    • Support ROM estimates for business proposals.
    • Mentor to other engineers on systems engineering or company products.
    • Perform critical review of all Safety Engineering documentation.
    • When necessary, assist with the development of hardware and/or software requirements.
    • Review hardware & software requirements, and hardware & software design documents.
    • When necessary, support RTCA/DO-178 software, RTCA/DO-200 tool, and RTCA/DO-254 hardware verification activities such as requirements test plan, procedures, testing, structural coverage testing, verification reports and results.

Certification Aspects:  Knowledge and basic understanding of the regulations, processes and required deliverables for products necessary to achieve TSO and/or STC approval(s), including FARs, ACs, MOPS, etc.

Autonomy: Self-Sufficiency, self-management, ability to independently prioritize tasks.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in science/engineering, or a math discipline.  Four or more years of experience in systems engineering or equivalent experience.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient with a personal computer, computer operating systems, word processing, and spreadsheet programs and ability to type.
  • Experience with one or more high-level programming languages, including C or C++ desirable.
  • Experience with use of Matlab or similar tools for modeling is beneficial.

Language Skills

Ability to write professional correspondence and communicate information to other employees in English.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply understanding of mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, probability and statistics, logic, sets and number systems).

Reasoning Ability

As our Senior Avionics Systems Engineer for our Flight Deck programs, you will be responsible for the life-cycle development activities for medium complexity system changes that include independently estimating the time required to complete assigned tasks, avionics systems requirement development, and verification in support of demonstration of product compliance to customer and/or regulatory requirements. This position requires general to intermittent supervision on work assignments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following:

  • For medium complexity system changes:

    • Perform systems bench testing, design verification testing, human factors testing, acceptance testing, problem report testing, and take action to resolve test discrepancies.
    • As applicable, provide inputs to problem reports and/or software changes that include flight deck effects, operational impacts, and system safety analysis.
    • Systems engineers assigned to support database-specific task are responsible for the development and sustainment of Universal Avionics database processes and records.
  • Other duties
    • Participate in product team meetings and IPTs.
    • Address product support and field service technical questions.
    • Review product support installation manuals, operator manuals, and configuration manuals.
    • Systems technical resource for hardware qualification testing.
    • Author problem reports and investigate problem reports.
    • Capable to fulfill the role of Systems Lead on projects.
    • Capable to recommend improvements to systems development processes and company products.
    • Capable to support ROM estimates for business proposals.
    • Working knowledge of CFR’s/AC’s affecting systems requirements/process.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Five (5) + years of experience with head-up and head-down displays, primary, navigation, multi-functional displays. Engine indication, cockpit alerting systems, flight guidance, flight management systems.
  • Have the ability to provide clear written and verbal English communication of system requirements and test results to software and hardware engineering teams, product support, manufacturing, marketing/sales, management, customers, and certification authorities.
  • Team player with the ability to provide clear written and verbal English communication of system requirements and test results to software and hardware engineering teams and management.
  • Knowledge of applicable certification/development standards and guidance, including DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, ACs, TSOs, GAMA, SAE, and MOPS associated with aircraft avionics systems.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to perform color evaluations with the naked eye per GAMA and SAE human factors standards. Ability to perform as a flight crew member to support avionics systems testing during ground and flight tests.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots and repairs Flight Management Systems (FMS,) Satcom and Airborne Radio Telephone Systems, EGPWS/TAWS, communications, navigation, radar, TCAS/XPDR, DME, autopilot/flight director, audio, ADF, Cabin Management/In-flight Entertainment (IFE), and other sophisticated avionics/electronics systems.
  • Installs avionics systems on customer aircraft.
  • Provides emergency power supply battery service for customer aircraft in-house.
  • Maintains continuous communication with customers regarding the status of avionics work on their aircraft. 
  • Documents all work accomplished (a.k.a. sign-off) in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
  • Works fair share of overtime and travels to customer locations or other Standard Aero facilities as required.
  • Tests, installs, and/or repairs electrical/avionics equipment and systems, including systems and controls contained in the flight compartment. Routes wire throughout aircraft tying into both new and factory installed wire bundles, and may assist in functional check-out and troubleshooting of all wiring systems.  
  • Installs, aligns, and wires electrical and electronic components such as instruments, sensors, radio communications, antennas, J-boxes, lights, etc.
  • Determines the best location and method for installing and removing electronic equipment and systems by applying general trade practices and adhering to prints originated by Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, various mod centers (STC’s), and many aircraft manufacturers’ wiring diagrams.
  • Fabricates wiring harnesses; solders connector plugs; strips and hand lugs wiring; identifies wiring and fabricates and installs surface control indicating systems; performs terminal splicing; wires junction boxes; routes wiring and conduit; and performs any other electrical bench or installation work as necessary to complete the electrical repair or modification of the aircraft.
  • Performs continuity checks and may assist in the functional check-out of complete aircraft systems.
  • Assists in performing more complex electrical work as required.  May assist in troubleshooting, locating, and correcting wiring difficulties.
  • Operates hand and power tools.  May operate electrical test equipment.  Must be familiar with color coding and symbols used in identifying hardware and components.
  • Must have knowledge of power sources and bonding and grounding techniques.
  • Adheres to shop standards, various manufacturers’ standards and practices and has knowledge of various federal and military standards including FAA Advisory Circulars.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 yrs of related avionics experience.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time (8+ hours), lift 50 pounds unassisted, walk, bend, stretch, and climb ladders to service aircraft
  • Formal avionics systems and electronics education/training.
  • Works fair share of overtime and travels to customer locations or other Standard Aero facilities as required
  • Must have knowledge of both electrical and electronic theories and be able to understand and follow wiring diagrams.
  • Analytical skills required to perform complex mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to see to disassemble and visually inspect.
  • Must be able to hear to detect the sources of problems.
  • Must have excellent hand-to-eye coordination.
  • Must have good interpersonal and verbal skills in order to interface with customers and employees.

Preferred:

  • 2-3 years Aviation training preferred. This training may take the form of military training, aeronautical academy or technical school training and/or an Aviation Associates Degree.
  • A&P license preferred.
  • FCC license preferred.
  • Corporate aircraft maintenance experience preferred.
