The annual AEA U.S. West Regional Meeting is underway in Reno, Nev., and runs from Oct. 19-21 at the Peppermill Resort.
The three-day event began on Wednesday, Oct. 19, with a Fast Trak Training Course for AEA members.
On Thursday, Oct. 20, Ric Peri, AEA vice president of government and industry affairs, will present a regulatory session to begin the second day of the event. With a flurry of legal interpretations and policy changes from FAA headquarters, the regulatory update will include discussion on the limitations of field approvals, the proper procedures for air carrier (Part 135) maintenance signoffs and the new policies regarding the installation of non-approved parts and accessories. The session will also cover the U.S./EU Aviation Safety Agreement and self-disclosure procedures and frequently asked questions.
During the last two days of the event, manufacturer/distributor product information and technical training sessions will be presented by: Aeroflex, Aspen Avionics, Avidyne, FreeFlight Systems, Garmin, Honeywell Bendix/King Avionics, L-3 Avionics Systems and Universal Avionics Systems.
Attendees may also take the NCATT Aircraft Electronics Technician (AET) certification test during the regional meeting and attend the AEA Exhibit Hall. Exhibiting companies at the AEA West Regional Meeting include:
