After Congress passed the Reducing Flight Delays Act of 2013 on Friday, April 26, which gives the Federal Aviation Administration transfer authority for $253 million until October to relieve staffing challenges that created airport delays for thousands of travelers in the past week, the FAA announced on Saturday, April 27, that it has suspended all employee furloughs.
According to a statement from the FAA, air traffic facilities will begin to return to regular staffing levels within a 24-hour period, and the system will resume normal operations by Sunday evening.
